In white-light mode, its virtually indestructible white-light LED generates an intense 350 lumen TIR-lensed focused beam that’s critical for situational awareness and positive threat identification. In infrared mode, the IR LED produces 120 milliwatts of infrared output for use with night vision devices (NVDs). There is also an off setting on the bezel. Activating the X300V is done via its patented toggle switch, which permits support-hand thumb activation for right- or left-handed shooters. Simply press the switch on either side for momentary-on activation or rotate up or down for constant-on. Optional DG grip switches are available for use with handguns and a pressure-activated XT07 tape switch for long guns is also available from SureFire. The rugged, adaptable X300V WeaponLight can be quickly attached to a handgun or a long gun using its T-Slot mounting system, which permits solid attachment to any Universal or MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail. Constructed of high-strength aerospace aluminum with Mil-Spec hard anodizing for extreme durability, the ultra-reliable X300V is also O-ring sealed to withstand even the harshest conditions. FITS: Handguns and long guns with Universal or MIL-STD-1913 (“Picatinny”) rails. MR adapter mounts available for several non-railed handguns—Click here to view them.

Despite everything, this is still one of the best white light/IR light combos you can get for a handgun. I have run the A model under low-light and while the lumens are low, the deep reflector makes for better throw than the 1000-lumen X300U model (of course the newer Turbo head blows it out of the water, but it’s still MORE than viable for white-light). Under no-light and in IR mode, it’s simply perfect out to at least 50 yards, even on a moon-less night with no ambient lighting. You can PID distinct shapes and targets and make good hits with a red dot optic that has been zeroed. The fact that this is the B (side-thumb screw) model just makes it slightly more universally compatible with everything at the cost of ease of unholster/reholstering (the slight additional encumbrance does slow these down), which is usually not a big trade-off.

I wish I had picked these up when they cost $220 a pop, but even at $350, there isn’t much on the market light now rivaling it. And yes, I have used the Modlite PL350 with an IR head. The IR850 has more punch, but that’s often too much up close, while the IR940 has a little bit less juice than this in IR mode. And both of those lack the ease of white-light transition.

Standard Surefire performance and quality. Highly recommend for PID under NODS and sufficient for LL/NL PID.

  3. russelltasto (verified owner)

Solid light, plenty of IR illumination. White light output is a little anemic. Fits regular x300 holsters with a little extra snugging.

  4. echughes08 (verified owner)

Put it on my helmet to supplement the built in illuminator on a PVS14 and it way out performs that in IR and does well for white light too.

  5. John (verified owner)

Great light and nice to have IR with a turn of the head. IR is bright under NODS. Just wish I’m the white light lumens was more than 350 lumens
